Advocating for Peace, Justice and Sustainable Development in Congo

D. R. CONGO FORWARD

Who We Are

DRC Forward is an organization founded by Congolese Americans and Congolese lawful residents living in the United States. We are united by a shared commitment to advocating for peace, justice, human rights, and sustainable development in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. After more than three decades of war, repeated aggression—including military interventions by Rwanda—and continuing instability, we advocate for an end to the impunity that has allowed violence to persist and has contributed to the deaths of millions of Congolese people.

Living in the United States—a nation founded on the principles of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law—we work to raise awareness among the American public, policymakers, and international partners about the continuing war in Congo. We seek justice and accountability for victims, challenge misinformation and false narratives that perpetuate the conflict, and promote an accurate understanding of Congo’s history and present-day realities. We also advocate for durable peace and sustainable development that can alleviate poverty, empower communities, and help the Congolese people build a secure and prosperous future.

JUSTICE

Standing for Justice and Accountability

DRC Forward strongly supports the legal action taken by the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to seek justice and accountability through international law. On June 26, 2026, the DRC filed an application instituting proceedings against Rwanda before the International Court of Justice concerning Rwanda’s alleged responsibility for decades of violence and violations of international law on Congolese territory. We view this action as an important step toward ending impunity, defending the DRC’s sovereignty, obtaining justice and reparations for victims, and establishing a durable peace founded on truth, accountability, and the rule of law.
